Throughout the year the Hunteract Club has many fundraising activities from Triva Nights, Entertainment Book and Krispy Kreme Drives to socail party's


Salvation Army - OASIS Youth Centre - Central Coast
 

The Salvation Army’s Oasis Youth Centre in Wyong offers crisis intervention and
support services to young people between 12 and 24 yrs old.
Facilities at the centre include a gymnasium/indoor sports centre, a Workshop; Arts
and Multimedia Centre; Internet Café; Recording Studio; Auditorium; and Rock Climbing Wall.

Hunteract donated $1500


Rotary BBQ's
 

Over the oast year Hunteract has provided support to its parent club, Newcastle Rotary at teh following events:

  • ANZAC dawn service BBQ at Nobby’s Surf Lifesaving Club
  • 150th Anniversary of the Great Northern Railway at Newcastle train station.

Fashion Fusion
 

Took place at Wests Leagues Club which showcased that seasons fashions from several local clothing stores and young designers. As well as the fashion parade itself there was also a band, raffle and auction on the night.

$2000 was Raised for young care, Youngcare is a charity and non-profit organisation formed to help young Australians with high care needs. This is done by taking (intellectually disabled young people, for example) out of elderly aged care facilities and providing them with a dignified and relevant lifestyle.


Ovarian Cancer Research
 

Hunteract has been organising Krispy Kreme drives to donated money to the GO Fund, an organization that supports research into the treatment, prevention and early detection of gynaecological cancer.


Sudanese School Project
 

The club is planning to send educational materials to Mvolo, a village in Southern Sudan. The schools in the village were destroyed during the civil war and children currently have no school in which to learn. Hunteract will send supplies to the region in early 2007.

Hunteract donated school supplies to several communities in both Sudan and Samoa to the value of $3000.


St Vincent de Pauls Refugee Mentoring and Refugee Sports Fund
 
Some members of the club take part in the St Vincent De Pauls Refugee mentoring program and mentor African refugees in the community. In 2006 Hunteract donated $500 to St Vincent de Pauls Refugee Sporting Fund. This funding enables refugees to take part in sport in the local area and further engage with the Newcastle community. It also gives local refugees the opportunity to enhance their skills in sport and dance.Pictures: Club members Jackie and Amy with Lovette (Lofti) and Netti. Lovette and Netti are refugees from Liberia and both take part in the Refugee Mentoring program and attend a dance class funded by the Refugee Sports Fund.

Loop the Lake
 

Hunteract supported Warners Bay Rotary in their annual Loop the Lake event by providing some man-power for the day. Loop the Lake is a recreational bike ride around Lake Macquarie with a major purpose of raising money for the John Hunter Children’s Hospital. Money has been raised to establish and maintain a Play Therapy teacher for the children.


East Timor Rotaract
 

Hunteract has established a link with the Rotaract Club of East Timor in September 2006 and hopes to work together with their members to fund projects in East Timor. The small island has seen a lot of tragedy in the past few years with political upheaval and the devastation of the tsunami. Hunteract will further the humanitarian aims of Rotary by learning more about East Timor and its people.


Tsunami Victims
 

Hunteract put together 44 boxes of goods, including toys, clothes and educational materials, to send to victims of the tsunami in South East Asia.


Red Cross Appeal
 

Some members of Hunteract took part in the annual Red-Cross Door Knock appeal for the Hamilton Region.

We have also donated food to the Maitland Family Support Scheme for their Christmas appeal.



Technical Aids for the Disabled Bike Clinic
 

Hunteract donated 3 bikes to the Hunter branch of Technical Aids to the Disabled (TADS) to establish a bike clinic. TADS is a volunteer organization that use their technical skills to create assistive devices to allow people with disabilities to live their lives more fully. The model bikes are used by TADS volunteers to see what modifications will need to be made to bicycles for children with a disability. The children then go and source their own bikes, and modifications are made according to the measurements made on the model bikes.



Child Flight
 

Hunteract held a Trivia Night at Nobbies Surf Club and successfully raised $1500 for Telstra Child Flight. Child Flight is the only emergency helicopter transport service in Australia that is dedicated solely to the transport of critically ill or injured children and babies.



Salvation Army Toy Run
 

Hunteract members took part in the annual Toy Run organised by Bikers Australia, collecting toys, gifts and funds which are then donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
